Working Arrangements with NHS North West

During the Discussion and Engagement and formal Consultation phases of 'Making it Better', the Network developed a strong link with the NHS North West EWTD team led by Dr. Ahmed-Little. This continues to be an invaluable link as the Implementation phase for service redesign begins.

All proposed rotas need to be agreed and ‘signed off’ by the medical adviser responsible for each Trust, the junior doctors and a delegate of the Postgraduate Dean, North Western Deanery. The North West EWTD team are fully engaged in this process and their advice, support, negotiation and mediation skills will undoubtedly be of great value during the next eight months as there is a move to EWTD compliance. The NHS North West target for full compliance with the EWTD is August 2008. This presents the Network with an even greater challenge but does provide the opportunity to accelerate the move towards compliance and share the experience with the wider NHS twelve months before the August 2009 deadline.
