The European Commission Tackle Greek Non-compliance

The European Commission has signalled its intent on the European Working Time Directive. The Greek authorities are facing prosecution for not complying with the maximum working hours limit for doctors.

There had been suggestions that it was unlikely that the Commission would launch infraction proceeding because several member States still had a long way to go - but this is clearly not the case.

The NHS continues to work towards implementing the 48 hour week for doctors in by August 2009 and Skills for Health - Workforce Projects Team are leading the programme of work to support the NHS with this.
