Home Hospital at Night and 24/7 Hospital at Night Hospital at Night and Nurse coordinators competences

Competency in Action – Hospital at Night and Nurse coordinators competences

16th March 2007, Birmingham Hippodrome

The final report and accredited set of nursing competences in the framework is a resource for acute NHS Trusts implementing 'Hospital at Night'. The competences will support advancing models of H@N into the evenings and weekends towards a 24/7 approach.

Developing the role of the nurse coordinator

By using these competences, trusts can be assured of a highly effective patient focussed resource, maintaining continuity and supporting the challenge of the EWTD.

After the launch of the framework the conference was divided into two threads, one which was aimed at trusts beginning to implement Hospital at Night and another for trusts moving forward to implement Hospital by Day or Hospital 24/7. This part of the conference covered a variety of other topics including:

  • Engaging clinicians
  • Trust Case Studies including mental health
  • E-learning
  • Benefits Realisation
  • DRS (Doctors Rostering System) – data collection.

This conference was aimed at senior nurse managers, H@N nurse coordinators, clinicians, HR managers and medical staffing managers.
