Terms of reference:
The National Stakeholder Group provide expert advice to support policy development and identify the national action needed by key stakeholders to equip the NHS with the necessary expertise and flexibilities to deliver WTD compliance.
The remit of the group is to:
- Support achievement of 2009 WTD compliance for doctors in training.
- Developing policies to support the full introduction of WTD while protecting service delivery and training quality (with the expert/professional advice and support of key stakeholders).
- Oversee delivery of the 2009 WTD project plan and overarching communications strategy with the support of the lead organisation, Skills for Health - Workforce Projects Team.
- Support NHS modernisation by facilitating links across stakeholder interest areas, so that educational, workforce (eg non-medical staff groups) and patient/public concerns are taken account of in planning for WTD compliance.
The Group also:
- Facilitate guidance to the service intended to allow greater flexibility and freedom in the way services are delivered.
- Take action nationally to unblock barriers, directly or through other levers (eg through Royal Colleges etc)
- Visibly champion action to deliver WTD compliance across the NHS
- Provide expert advice and constructive feedback to the lead organisation Skills for Health - Workforce Projects Team.
- Maintain awareness of implications for consultants and other staff groups
- Draw on good practice and intelligence from the UK and Europe
