Train the Trainer

The long awaited Train the Trainer resource pack was launched by Skills for Health - Workforce Projects Team in January to an extremely positive reception. Delegates at the first Train the Trainer workshops in Manchester described the pack as 'brilliant' and 'excellent', after taking part in a series of activities and discussions to learn the skills that will help them deliver an Introduction to Workforce Planning workshop locally.

Train the Trainer has been developed to give workforce planners or trainers in healthcare organisations the tools to deliver workforce planning training in their own organisations.

The specially developed resource pack will support healthcare organisations in their local workforce planning processes by bringing together a host of key resources to increase awareness and engagement in workforce planning across the NHS.

James Stephens, senior manager - facilitation at Workforce Projects Team, said: “The Train the Trainer programme has enjoyed a fantastic reception since its launch and we are delighted it has been received so well.

"It was extremely satisfying to see delegates at the Manchester event using the resource pack as an integral part of the workshop, helping them to develop during the two day programme. We are very much looking forward to seeing local organisations benefit from their learning and development."

Delegates were given the opportunity to feedback on the programme, with one saying: “The Train the Trainer pack is an excellent resource and well thought out, featuring the right level of guidance and examples.

"I really enjoyed the practical exercise and benefited from the feedback in a safe environment."

The pack has been distributed to over 400 healthcare organisations across England and will be periodically upgraded with new learning and resources.
