Hospital at Night team aiming for top award

The Hospital at Night (HaN) model of teamworking has been recognised for its contribution to improving patient safety after being shortlisted for a Health Services Journal award.

Gerry Bolger, senior project manager of the Hospital at Night project, said: “Hospital at Night ensures the right person, with the right skills is available at the right time to address the needs of patients. In many cases this may not be a doctor, but another healthcare professional with the appropriate skills and abilities. This links with the recommendations of the Darzi review, to ensure that high quality personal care is delivered to all patients.

“We are delighted to be nominated for this award; it’s a tremendous honour as this concept is about ensuring high quality care and focusing on patients’ safety and outcomes.”

The Hospital at Night team put forward their case to the panel of judges at the end of September. The awards are set to be presented on 1st December at a glittering ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
