This is a step by step e-learning guide. It is an educational training tool and also practical guide to sustainable and evidence based workforce planning. Workforce planning in the NHS is a key skill that managers and planners at all levels of an organisation require, but one which is often not provided through core training. Who is this resource useful for?

Six Steps will be useful to anyone working in healthcare human resources, workforce planning, service planning or in designing new ways of working. It helps managers take into account the local demographic situation, impact on other services and provides practical hints, tips and case studies to work through plans.

How will the resource help me and my organisation?

Use of the guide across workforce planning will help ensure that decisions made around design and recruitment of new staff and teams are sustainable, realistic and fully support the delivery of quality patient care and productivity and efficiency.

The guide takes the user through six clear steps to develop their workforce plan. It's a format that planners can use at their own pace as an educational resource or refer to as a best practice guide when they are developing plans in the future.

There is around an hour and a half of learning material on the disc broken into bite sized lessons. The user can work through the guide at their own pace as an educational resource or refer to it as a best practice guide when they are developing plans in the future.
