Six Steps Methodology to Integrated Workforce PlanningStep 5 - Planning to Deliver the Required WorkforceWorkforce planners have another major tool to help them deliver redesigned services and achieve Working Time Directive compliance in the shape of the Six Steps Methodology to Integrated Workforce Planning. Step 5 of the methodology, produced by Skills for Health – Workforce Projects Team, determines the most effective way of ensuring availability staff to deliver redesigned services, even if this means more changes to your workforce plan. Step 5 requires users to establish the key changes needed to the current workforce, plan their priorities and work out the most significant areas for change. They must also confirm how they will manage any potential change and build momentum and enthusiasm for amongst staff. Workforce Projects Team has developed a series of resources and tools to support Step 5 of the methodology. These include the Change Readiness Tool, Maximising Staff Engagement Briefing Paper and WTD Scenario Solutions. The Six Steps is constantly improving, with a brand new e-learning programme for the methodology planned for 2009. Keep an eye on the healthcare workforce portal in the new year for updates. |
