Rationale:
NHS North West has brought forward the date of EWTD 2009 implementation to August 2008 in order to maximise the potentials for patient safety and service delivery. The impact of service and education can then be examined and further action taken where needed so that by the legal deadline our trusts will be delivering a safe and supported service to the patients covered by the Strategic Health Authority. As such, our team of junior doctors have been facilitating our trusts in producing innovative and sustainable solutions to achieve this goal. This conference is about demonstrating to Europe that implementation is possible and safe, and sharing good practice with the wider community.
Participants:
Speakers:
We are in negotiation with stakeholders for keynote speakers. We are looking for influential national and local figures who are available on that date. We have confirmed speakers from the Netherlands to share their experiences of the Directive in their country.
Plan of the day:
The majority of the day is to be an event for our trusts to show off what they have implemented and we are currently receiving submissions from our 29 trusts. We want a mainly workshop based day where our trusts get maximum exposure to spread their practice. Representative from the SHA derived Greater Manchester Womens and Childrens Reconfiguration team, “Making it Better” will deliver a presentation explaining how they are tying EWTD into their re-configuration strategies.
This is subject to change depending on the availability of the keynote speakers.
Attendees:
The event is to be open to all stakeholders who are involved in the workforce changes, both at local level but also at national and international level.
Particular attention is to encourage engagement with doctors, both of the training and non-training grades, as most of our solutions are either innovated by or relied heavily on the involvement of clinical staff.
Advertising:
Advertising is due to commence once the registration process is finalised both in the Health Services Journal and other publications to encourage good attendance.
We look forward to a productive day demonstrating how NHS North West is Leading the Way in EWTD Compliance.
