Workforce Capability Development in Ambulance Trusts 12/10/06

Workforce planning for ambulance trusts has traditionally been done separately from trusts and SHAs. A new, dedicated development programme provides skills, tools and practice, in team-based workshops, for all ambulance trusts helping them to meet the various challenges they face. With 21 recommendations in the 2005 review ‘Taking Healthcare to the Patient – Transforming Ambulance Services in England and Wales’, now is the time to get to grips with the skills and processes needed to ensure delivery of their first 5 year workforce plans by March 2007.

Skills for Health - Workforce Projects Team has teamed up with Organisation Development Services (ODS) to deliver the capability development programme in three two-day workshops. A recent one day workshop introduced the context and key elements of the programme to senior ambulance service personnel.

The Workforce Projects Team and ODS have invited each trust to bring along a team of seven colleagues from across the service to a two day workshop during November and December who will then champion workforce planning once the workshops have finished.
