Event season kicks off
Now is the time of year to register for a host of free events that are freely available to assist you with your healthcare workforce needs. We have a wide range of events planned - ranging from competency based planning and urgent care to the national Working Time Directive Conference and public health workshops.

Public Health Workforce Development Resource Pack
Public health is high on the NHS agenda and will impact on all organisations. How do we ensure that the right workforce is in the right place at the right time? The NHS needs to build and maintain successful relationships with social care and the voluntary and independent sectors. Skills for Health - Workforce Projects Team launches another in its series of Workforce Development Resource Packs which engages with some of the key public health workforce issues and provides thought-provoking discussion points and a wide range of case studies. The pack is supported by two one-day workshops which are free to attend.

18 Week Patient Pathway Workforce Resource Pack
With plentiful recent media coverage of the 18 Week Wait, what can you do to help ensure that your organisation meets the target? This pack contains workforce planning checklists, together with examples of good practice and frequently asked questions (FAQs) that organisations have developed to solve common issues around the 18 week wait.

iBleep Launch
As part of a range of solutions to the WTD 2009 challenge, the Workforce Projects Team launch iBleep software to the NHS. Piloted over the last two years, the software allows junior doctors wireless interaction with calls from wards. On 13th March 2007, we're holding a launch event to showcase the free software and provide the chance for you to get a closer look at this new technology.

Latest news from the Working Time Directive team
The WTD team are working on a selection of events that will be taking place in the coming months. March sees an iBleep launch event and a Hospital at Night event, the annual conference follows in April. A series of events local to each of the WTD 2009 national pilot sites will also be advertised in the coming months.

Competency Based Planning (CBP) - 15 March 2007 (Manchester).A one day workshop with an overview of CBP including rationale and benefits to organisations, teams and patients. This event proved extremely popular and the 70 delegate spaces were filled within 24 hours of advertising. Please join the waiting list to be advised of any further related events.

Following two highly successful and popular events, the Department of Health and Skills for Health - Workforce Projects Team join forces to bring you two more change management master classes. NHS Benchmarking Database Workshops - 28 March 2007 (London). Two more in a series of half-day workshops aimed at commissioners, service leads and those new to workforce planning or unfamiliar with the original acute or PCT workforce planning and development databases. The workshops - with 15 places at each session - include more details about benchmarking (what is it and how do you do it?) as well as practical exercises using the Workforce Projects Team's NHS Benchmarking Database and how to interpret the results produced.
