Morecambe Bay Hospitals
iBleep solution across an urban multisite organisation
Organisational background
Meeting the European Working Time Directive 2009 is a challenge for any trust. It is an even greater challenge for a trust providing healthcare across an isolated or geographically large area.
The two district general hospitals in Lancaster (Lancaster Royal Infirmary) and Barrow-in-Furness (Furness General Hospital) are 50 miles apart, with a travel time in excess of 75 minutes.
Westmorland General Hospital in Kendal provides acute medical services with diagnostics and a treatment centre.
In August 2006 Morcambe Bay Hospitals commenced a Co-operative solutions pilot to meet EWTD. To read a copy of the project closure report and the lessons learnt by the trust click here
