Home Working Time Directive 2009 Projects Taking Care 24:7 East Sussex Pilot

East Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust, Hastings & Rother PCT and East Sussex Downs & Weald PCT

This pilot is a joint project between East Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust, Hastings and Rother PCT and East Sussex Downs and Weald PCT. The pilot is specifically designed to develop new models of service provision which will focus on emergency care and the 'front door' of the hospitals.

An alternative model of care for A&E and GP services

Its particular focus is between the hours of 8pm and 8am when the number of emergencies attending A&E decrease, and at the weekend when A&E attendance is high, but there is less planned activity elsewhere on the hospital sites. There will be a specific focus on different specialities with the aim of providing an improved and sustainable clinical response for local people close to where they live, and will in turn provide a solution to meet the requirements of WTD 2009.

Pilot duration: January 2007 - September 2008
