Child Health

The care of children at all stages of their development is a key element of health policy. The recent Darzi Next Stage Review and policy documents such as Maternity Matters have highlighted the need for integrated care that crosses organisational boundaries. These have been strengthened with the publication of the new joint strategy for children’s and young people’s health Healthy lives, brighter futures from the Department of Health and the Department for Children, Schools and Families.

Healthcare organisations will need to ensure that they have the right flexible, affordable workforce to meet the needs of the future provision of childcare. In addition there will need to be demonstrable links across all the different agencies involved in child development to avoid individual organisations working in silos.
