Organisational background

A medium sized district general hospital the Countess of Chester Hospital Foundation Trust (COCH) serves a population of 250,000 to 300,000 mainly from Chester, Ellesmere Port, rural West Cheshire and the Deeside part of Flintshire. The hospital has foundation trust status and consistently achieves three star status and CNST level three accreditation. COCH provides a full range of acute inpatient, outpatient, day case and emergency services and has approximately 625 beds. With an impressive reputation built on high quality patient care and a culture of service modernisation, Countess of Chester worked towards achieving WTD 2009 compliance early by building on its success.
