Medical workforce

The role of clinical and medical staff in the planning and development of the workforce to deliver healthcare services in the future will be top of the agenda at a workshop organised by Workforce Projects Team together with the British Association of Medical Managers in London on 19th March.

'Delivering the workforce of tomorrow: clinical and medical engagement in workforce development' will cover key issues including an overview of workforce development systems, the current level of medical involvement, identifying barriers to engagement and suggestions for improvements to systems and approaches to workforce development.

The event will take place at the Hallam Conference Centre between 10am and 3pm, and will be suitable for medical and clinical staff at all levels, as well as chief executives, human resources leads, workforce leads and service managers.

Benchmarking workshops

Workforce Projects Team is hosting workshops throughout March and April to help healthcare staff get the most out of the NHS Benchmarking Database.

The events will help them master the database and illustrate the benefits of applying it to workforce planning and development strategies.

The first will take place on 10th March at the Hilton Hotel, Leeds, the next will take place on 22nd April at the Hotel Russell, Russell Square, London. Another workshop will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Birmingham City Centre, on 29th April.

Workshops are taking place in both the morning and afternoon at all venues.

Data modeling courses

Want to know more about data modeling? Workforce Projects Team are holding special courses to help you develop your knowledge and understanding of demand and supply modeling, plus activity analysis.

Six Steps Methodology to Integrated Workforce Planning evaluation

Six steps evaluationTime is running out for you to have your say on the Six Steps Methodology to Integrated Workforce Planning.

Workforce Projects Team are giving healthcare professionals the chance to have their say on the tool that was launched last October.

Workforce Projects Team want to find out exactly what users of the Six Steps think of the resource and how it can be improved in the future. The tool helps ensure that decisions made around design and recruitment of new staff and teams are sustainable, realistic and fully support the delivery of quality patient care, productivity and efficiency.

Postgraduate certificate update

postgraduate certificateThe innovative and popular Postgraduate Certificate in Strategic Workforce Planning course welcomed another group of high calibre students following the start of cohort four in February.

The course provides workforce planners with the skills to plan effectively and adapt to their constantly changing role.

The next national programme is anticipated to commence in February 2010 in London and Manchester. The West Midlands commissioned programme continues, whilst the South West commissioned programme starts on 25th February 2009.
