| Six Steps Evaluation |
Healthcare staff can have their say on the Six Steps Methodology to Integrated Workforce Planning by taking part in a brand new evaluation of the tool.
The Six Steps was released by Skills for Health - Workforce Projects Team in October 2008 and has become an integral resource for workforce planners.
Workforce Projects Team want to find out exactly what users of the Six Steps think of the resource and how it can be improved in the future. The tool helps ensure that decisions made around design and recruitment of new staff and teams are sustainable, realistic and fully support the delivery of quality patient care, productivity and efficiency.

| Train the Train launch success |
The highly anticipated Train the Trainer pack, produced by Workforce Projects Team was released in January to immediate praise.
Delegates at the first Train the Trainer workshop described the new pack as 'brilliant' and 'excellent' following the event at Manchester Airport.
They took part in a series of discussions and activities to learn the skills that will help them deliver an Introduction to Workforce Planning workshop locally, all under the guidance of the expert staff from Workforce Projects Team.
The pack gives workforce planners or trainers in healthcare organisations the tools to deliver workforce planning training.

| WCC masterclass |
More than 55 delegates packed into the Cabinet War Rooms, London on 22nd January as Workforce Projects Team held the World Class Commissioning - Implications for Workforce Planning masterclass.
They heard the expert views of a range of speakers from the acute, primary, independent and regional sectors on the interaction between commissioning, workforce planning and development.
They enjoyed an overview of the various workforce planning roles and responsibilities across the commissioning process.

| Future workforce workshop |
The role of medical staff in the planning and development of the workforce to deliver healthcare services in the future will be top of the agenda at a free workshop organised by Workforce Projects Team together with the British Association of Medical Managers in London on 19th March.
'Delivering the workforce of tomorrow: medical engagement in workforce development' will cover key issues including an overview of workforce development systems, the current level of medical involvement, identifying barriers to engagement and suggestions for improvements to systems and approaches to workforce development.
The event will take place at the Hallam Conference Centre between 10am and 3pm, and will be suitable for medical and clinical staff at all levels, as well as chief executives, human resources leads, workforce leads and service managers. Find out more and register your interest here >>> |

Long term conditions is the focus of a brand new section of the healthcare workforce portal launched in January.
Workforce Projects Team has been commissioned by the Department of Health to provide a range of resources supporting integrated workforce planning in long term conditions.
The new portal pages highlight key questions, issues and advice around workforce planning. Using the speciality areas highlighted in Lord Darzi's Next Stage Review, seven distinct portal areas have been developed, they are: long term neurological conditions, renal, cancer, respiratory, diabetes, mental health and coronary heart disease.
Delegates to the Long Term Conditions Conference in Harrogate on 7th April will be able to access the specialist resources produced by Workforce Projects Team directly at the event to support the learning on the day.
