Visitors to the Skills for Health - Workforce Projects Team (stand 22) at the NHS Employers Conference - Leading Workforce Thinking, between 4th and 6th November at ICC Birmingham can learn about workforce planning and collect a USB stick.
We will also be delivering a Working Time Directive workshop with Simon Eccles, Jacky Beaumont and Yasmin Ahmed-Little, titled Working All Hours - Blowing Away WTD Barriers. The workshop takes place on the third day of the show, Thursday 6th November, between 11am and 12pm in hall 10.

| 18 weeks workshops |
Time is running out for you to sign up for two special workshops focusing on the 18 week patient pathway in November.
A number of high level healthcare speakers, including Maxine Foster from the Department of Health and Filao Wilson from Skills for Health are headlining the events in London on 19th November and near Manchester Airport on 25th November.
The classes outline the workforce planning implications of the 18 week patient pathway and how to develop sustainable workforce solutions.

| Six Steps is top of the charts |
Workforce Projects Team's new Six Steps Methodology to Integrated Workforce Planning has become the most popular resource on the healthcare workforce portal since its release on 30th September.
The methodology helps ensure that decisions made around the design and recruitment of new staff and teams are sustainable, realistic and fully support the delivery of quality patient care and productivity and efficiency.
It takes users through six clear steps to develop their workforce plan. They can use the methodology as an educational resource or refer to it as a best practice guide when developing future plans.

| Final chance to sign up for workforce planning qualification |
There are now less than four days for interested workforce planners to sign up for the fourth cohort of the Postgraduate Certificate in Strategic Workforce Planning.
Recruitment for the 12 month course, run by Workforce Projects Team in conjunction with Thames Valley University, closes at 5pm on this coming Monday, 3rd November.
The postgraduate certificate begins in February 2009 and is set to run at venues in Manchester and London.

| Introducing workforce planning |
Healthcare staff wanting to get an introduction to workforce planning should look no further than the Mayfair Conference Centre, London, on 10th December.
Workforce Projects Team are hosting the one day event, which will provide an introductory overview to the workforce planning process, covering things like what workforce planning is and who needs to be involved, the importance of good data, plus tools and resources that can be used to develop a plan.

| World Class Commissioning - Implications for Workforce |
This workshop will be followed in early 2009 with a further two taking place in London, one focusing on the workforce implications of Lord Darzi's Next Stage Review, the other on world class commissioning and its implications for workforce planning.
The World Class Commissioning masterclass will be held on 22nd January and will explore the implications of world class commissioning and practice based commissioning on workforce issues across primary and secondary care. Featuring a number of expert speakers, including Gary Belfield, director of commissioning at the Department of Health, the masterclass will provide an excellent opportunity to discuss and gain a greater understanding of these issues.

| Rota design in 2009 |
With the deadline for the implementation of Working Time Directive approaching in August 2009, Workforce Projects Team are hosting a series of workshops in the New Year to help workforce planners produce compliant rotas.
The one day events will take place at venues in London, Manchester, Leeds and Bristol, beginning at 9.30am on each day. They aim to equip healthcare staff working in trusts who are responsible for supporting the process of developing WTD compliant rotas.
