Planners have another essential resource thanks to NWP.
The Assessing Workforce Supply Tool is now available and generates workforce supply profiles and reports from Electronic Staff Record (ESR) and other staffing databases using Microsoft Excel.
It produces statistical and graphical reports based on a host of factors like staff group, pay band, Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF) competence, sickness and absence, age, leavers and new starters.

More than 800 copies of the new Long Term Neurological Conditions (LTnC) guide have been downloaded from the portal since its launch on 1st May 2008.
The new resource Long Term Neurological Conditions: a Good Practice Guide to the Development of the Multidisciplinary Team and the Value of the Specialist Nurse made its debut at the Managing Long Term Conditions conference in Harrogate earlier this month. The launch featured a keynote address by Mark Britnell, director general, commissioning and system management, Department of Health.
It was produced by NWP in conjunction with a host of partners including the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Epilepsy Action, the Parkinson’s Disease Society, the Royal College of Nursing and the Department of Health. The guide outlines the need for integrated planning for long term conditions and highlights current best practice.

| Countdown to conference season continues |
Preparations are continuing for two special conferences set to help healthcare staff get ready for Working Time Directive (WTD) 2009:

| Postgraduate certificate |
More and more people involved in planning services across health and social care throughout the UK and Eire are developing their workforce planning skills thanks to the specialist qualifications created and managed by NWP.
Together with the Centre for the Study of Policy and Practice in Health and Social Care at Thames Valley University, NWP produced the innovative Postgraduate Certificate in Strategic Workforce Planning to provide an official qualification for planners.
The course is in its third year and currently runs in Manchester, Slough, the West Midlands and Northern Ireland, with recruitment for the national programme starting in the autumn, with the course beginning in early 2009.
