PG Certificate in Strategic Workforce Planning - recruiting now

Healthcare WorkforceWe are now inviting applications for the third cohort of our popular Postgraduate Certificate. The course itself will begin in February 2008, with 60 places available at centres in Slough and Manchester. The course is open to colleagues who are involved in strategic workforce planning such as workforce planners and service modernisers within health and social care. To coincide with the launch of our development menus, each acute trust, PCT and SHA will shortly be receiving one of our brand new induction packs in the post. The packs are designed to provide an overview of workforce planning in the NHS and the tools we have produced to help you in the task.

We’re also launching the latest in our series of briefing papers on the topic of the administration workforce. Following on from estates and facilities management and maximising staff engagement, our new paper outlines some of the key issues surrounding administration services and offers some guidance on how to plan your workforce accordingly.

18 Week Wait workshops
Our first workshop took place this week in Newbury, within the South Central SHA region. Limited places are available at the remaining nine workshops so, if you’re part of a team preparing for the 18 Week Wait target (only 15 months to go…), please find your nearest workshop and register online.

The Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) Craft Specialty event
Healthcare WorkforceThere are limited places left for this event taking place on the 5th October. The RCS, supported by NWP, is holding a craft specialty event with presentations from leading experts in their field including Bernard Ribeiro, president RCSEng. The event aims to address some of the common challenges to the WTD 2009 requirement that certain specialties face. The event will share learning and solutions from the WTD 2009 pilot sites, highlight areas of best practice, identify and dispel misconceptions in respect of WTD and share an appreciation of the workforce issues in the widest sense – from training populations, workforce trends, curriculum requirements, specialty implications and the consequences of changes in one area affecting others. Showcasing Early Compliance event
NWP is pleased to present a showcasing event to disseminate key learning and offer practical hands-on advice from the NWP pilot sites that have reached early compliance with the WTD 2009 requirement. Taking place on the 6th November 2007 at the Hilton Metropole Hotel and Conference Centre, London, this one day national conference will accommodate 200 delegates and is aimed at operational and general managers. Delegates will take home five key tips from each of the interactive sessions and representation from each of the early compliant sites will be present on the day, allowing you to ask the trusts involved, direct questions about their projects.
